news archive12.17.07 About a week ago, we got back from our first European tour. Things went smoothly on 18 dates in nine countries, which is pretty amazing. We have many thanks to give to those who made it a great experience, most importantly Summery Agency, for bringing us over, Jordan, the excellent band we toured with and who literally made the entire trip possible, Nico, who drove the whole way, Adelaide, for supplying levity and having a terrific Persian kitty, and everyone who took care of us and put us up along the way. It was truly a foreign experience for Rahim, rife with strange new meats. In the next few days, we'll post photos from the tour, both as an abbreviated tour journal and in full at a photo host. We'll let you know when they're up. 11.5.07 Tuesday, November 13 we release our single, The Same, on limited-edition green 7" vinyl, hand-numbered to 500. Pre-order is availble here at our website and at Insound. On Saturday, November 10, we will have a release party. Details are here. In addition to the release party, this will be the send-off for our European tour, which begins November 14. See y'all overseas! 10.25.07 Before leaving for Europe, we'll play two shows, a party at Southpaw on November 2, and our single relase at Soundfix on November 10. See details here. Come party with us! We're still breaking in new songs and a new member, so we'd love you all to be there. Pre-order details will be available soon at Insound for our new single. 10.1.07 On October 11 we'll be playing a show at Union Hall with Division Day. This will be our first show in the New York area in several months, and our first show with a fourth member, Christian Little. It will be the live debut of many of the songs from our forthcoming record. Buy tickets here! On November 13, we'll be releasing a single called The Same on our own label , Dimension Arts. It will be available digitally here at our website, and on limited edition, hand-numbered, green 7" vinyl with a non-album b-side. This is the first release from Laughter. Ordering details will follow shortly here and through our e-mail list. 8.17.07 A month ago we made a record with J. Robbins. Today, it is finally finished. Our plans are to realease a limited press 7" single with an exclusive b-side, and later the record in full. We will keep you posted. Because we love you. Also, we have plans to tour Europe from mid-November to early December. This is our first time off the continent and we're excited. Dates are here. More will follow. 5.12.07 Tour with Antelope went swimmingly. Now we're back in New York, making songs in East Quogue in preparation for recording. No shows currently scheduled. We plan, hopefully, to debut a new set when we play again. We'll keep you posted. 4.9.07 We're back from tour. Thanks to our friends and families who attended our shows and who we played with and stayed with. We're going on a short tour soon with Antelope. It will include the Northeast and a couple of dates in Canada. Here are the dates. After this tour, we will write the rest of our album and record it in July. In the meantime, we might play some shows in and around New York. 2.20.07 Ok. So we're leaving for tour tomorrow. Some shows still have to be confirmed, so more will appear as we go, particularly toward the end of tour. Since we'll be on the road and it'll be hard for me to update this site, you can check our MySpace page for the most current dates. Tomorrow with Chin Up Chin Up at Mercury Lounge starts the tour. We hope to see you there. We'll be in NYC again on Saturday at Fordham University with Matt & Kim and Maps & Atlases. We'll have new songs and new merch on this tour. We'll be posting a new demo soon, both here and on MySpace. New, new, new. New demo, "Every Passing Night," is posted on MySpace. Recorded and mixed by Jeff Curtin. You may listen. See you out in the cold. Bundle up. 2.6.07 Last weekend we recorded demos with Jeff Curtin. Stuff sounds good. We're mixing this week and we'll post a new song. Until then, you can see some of the recording process in photos at our journal. Some new tour dates are posted. We'll have some pretty new Ideal Lives shirts on this tour, too. Also, there are finally some new photos on our media page, most of them from the last couple months of shows, practice, and recording. More to come. Check back soon for updates. 1.13.07 Happy New Year! We've been working menial jobs and writing songs since last we met. What have you been doing? We've posted the first dates of what should be a national tour surrounding SXSW. Take a look. Many dates will follow, so check back here. From Feb. 2-4 we'll be demoing new material with Jeff Curtin (of Slowlands) in Brooklyn. Hopefully, we'll have something to post. We have tentative plans to record for a new full-length with J. Robbins in June. Speaking of: please go here to read about and donate to the medical fund of J. Robbins' and Janet Morgan's son Callum. This is a difficult situation, and any support will go a long way. Love. 12.20.06 Got back from tour a week ago. It was great. We love us some Bound Stems. Big love to all our friends in all our tour stops, to John Bordeaux, Aunt Amy & Family, the indomitable Maps & Atlases, and everyone else who helped us out. And now we're done for the year. For the next few months, we'll be finishing writing our new record, demoing songs, countenancing Phil's unbelivable cats, sleeping a lot, working day jobs, and probably making stupid videos for you to watch. We'll be on tour again come SXSW time and we'll be playing a few shows in the meantime. Check here for updates. Happy holidays & new year! 11.7.06 We just finished up tour with Beauty Pill, and Judah Johnson, the best folks we ever liked. Thanks to all who helped us, fed us, snuck us jelly jars of moonshine, let us play their B.C. Rich Warlock guitar with a live kingsnake on the headstock, let us tour their record label, played the game of snaps with us, sent us personalized embroidered Rahim Land's End polo shirts, etc., etc. Love! This is a rare chance to see us in our natural environment. And boy, do we look stupid! The movie will be posted permanently on our media page. There should be more short films to come. Uh, buckle up! 9.18.06 Our tour journal is updated with photos and commentary from the Aloha tour. Look! 9.13.06 Sorry for the lack of updates. It's been a busy summer. A few things: As many of you know, Chris Bordeaux is our new bassist, singer, keyboardist, and guitarist. That's a lot to do. He's amazing. A couple weeks ago we finished a tour with Aloha, which went great. Thanks to Ralph of the Jai-Alai Savant, who sang with us in Chicago, and the Allens of TAN!, who sang with us in Detroit. We'll also being playing a couple shows on our home turf, Long Island, for the first time in awhile. Currently we're demo-ing songs for a new record. Unfortunately, we're not Weezer, so you can't hear them. But we're excited about this. We hope to see you soon. 7.11.06 Thanks to everyone who was at our Mercury Lounge show. It was a great time, and it was great to have the support while our line-up is in transition. We want to give a special thanks to Jon Foster of Snowday, and Chris Bordeaux of The Isles for playing with us. We'll have more info on our permanent line-up soon.
